My Super Short Post!

Well guys, I'm very sorry I've been MIA.

Blogging in my first year of teaching was a great idea at first, but let me just say that it is pretty much the hardest thing ever to do. I've been so busy planning, printing, talking, eating chocolate, and lying in bed in the evening thinking,"Is it normal to want to sleep at 8:30???" that I forgot to post.

I've been asking tons of questions on my Facebook page about the ins and outs of Kindergarten, though. Drop by to help me out!

I'll be posting a lot of classroom pictures sometime soon. For now, here is my September Currently!

Hope you're well! Leave me a comment with an answer to this question:

What kind of behavior management systems have you tried? Which are your favorites?

  1. Chocolate? Yum! As far as behavior management, in my 18 years of teaching, nothing has worked better than the clip chart with a mix of 1-2-3 Magic. I love how it accentuates the positive and keeps my students moving forward.

  3. Oh wow! I'm in my 8th year of teaching Kindergarten and finding it difficult to post to my blog AND get through the week....so I know exactly how you feel!!!

For behavior management...I've tried the clip chart....and the card system. Both worked for me but had some flaws. My latest post from a couple days ago was about my new behavior management system (green tickets!!) that I'm trying out this year. I got the idea from another blogger....you'll have to go check my post out!!

  5. I love the sound of silence....hmmmmmm.....it's wonderful : )

I use my stop sign with clips. Everyone starts out on green - if I have to speak to a child twice about the same offense, he/she has to move to yellow. They have an opportunity to move back to green. If I have to speak to a child 3+ times about the same offense, he/she has to move to red (no chance of moving back down). If a child uses violence in any way shape of form, or curses, they move directly to red with no chance of going back. When they are on the red sad face, I write a note home that needs to be signed and returned. My uncle made my stop sign (I think there's a picture on my blog, if not I'll send one to you along with my discipline policy).

PS - {{{{{}}}}}} hugs for you!

  7. Hey there! I was wondering how you were doing...was going to send you an e-mail if you had not posted yet. We went away for a couple weeks at the end of August so I am way behind myself. Look forward to seeing your finished classroom pics!
